Shepherd’s Longhouse on West Coast of Scotland

It was an idyllic train journey from London to Inverness on the Caledonian Sleeper train where, it’s true, you do meet really interesting people in the dining car,  plus getting up early to eat smoked salmon /scrambled eggs at 7am whilst whistling through the highlands is a must.

The West Coast of Scotland was my destination to shoot a wonderfully renovated and extended shepherd’s longhouse tucked on a hillside just south of a typically picturesque Loch.

Bought and renovated by a stylish architect duo the cottage is unmistakable with it’s 2 new bright red tin roofs. Retaining the original stone walls but adding timber cladding and big picture windows in the extension to maximize the light and the wonderful views was a triumph and it was fun to capture it.

The cottage has been shortlisted for the 2017 Rias Awards (The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland). Winners are announced later this week!
